Free Song Fridays – Tears for Fears “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” remixes from Lorde, Dimond Saints, Just A Gent

Welcome to your life. There’s no turning back.

Attractive Strangers has temporarily relocated to London for the summer. It’s like summer camp. So I’m going to dig up some bangers and mashups (surely someone has used this lame pun before) for you strangers while I’m out here, and see what trouble I can get into and blog about.

In honour of my arrival in the UK and my new surplus of free time, I’m not only resurrecting Free Song Fridays, but I’m dedicating the first installment to one of my fave English duos from back in the day. Tears for Fears time, y’all. Three free songs for your Friday.

Tears For Fears “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” (Just A Gent Remix)
A fresh new remix just a couple days old from Just A Gent… who, mind you, is just a kid. He’s 17 years old. WHAT. That’s right. Do the math. Tears for Fears released the original song in 1985, but Just a Gent wasn’t born for another ~12 years. Gahhhh. Time to start making arrangements for my retirement village in Fla.

Lorde “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” (Dimond Saints Remix)
Royal. Here’s a dark, crunk version of EWTRTW by everybody’s favorite lady voice of late: Lorde.

New 3D Printed Video + Free Remix: Cut Copy “We Are Explorers”

Finally, we get to see what these magical, newfangled 3D printers can do! Welcome to the future.

Directors Aramique Krauthamer and Masa Kawamura created the cute lil neon green explorers for the Cut Copy “We Are Explorers” video on a 3D printer, then filmed them cruising all over a neighborhood. Pretty neato.

You (yes, YOU strangers) are invited to download the 3D files for free on BitTorrent, print them and re-imagine the narrative with your own stop-motion. Very appropriate for a music group with “cut” and “copy” in their name. I am definitely too lazy to do this.

New Remix: Haim “Forever” (Giorgio Moroder Remix)

First of all, a brief rundown of the awesomeness that is Giorgio Moroder:

Heard of Donna Summer? The movie Scarface? Flashdance? Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories? Giorgio had his Italian hands in all of those and more. Check his Wikipedia page and get ready to waste an hour looking at links and YouTube videos. Neverending Story? Yeah, he scored that, too.

They call him (or at least he calls himself) the father of DISCO.

So papa disco Giorgio Moroder decided to bless the Haim sisters with a remix of their hit “Forever.” Give it a listen. Moroder vocoder fun starts about 1:30 in.
