Today is more than just Free Song Friday. It’s Free Show Friday! And Free Five-Song EP Friday!

Cults just announced a FREE show with special guest De Lux on Saturday, December 21, at House of Blues Sunset Strip. This thing will probably be a shit show due to freeness, but might as well get in Black Friday spirit mode and jump in line.

RSVP ONLY at [email protected]. Subject to capacity of course.

More FREEEEE! Opening band De Lux has a five-song EP out now, available gratis via ScionAV. Give it a listen and a download and a disco dance below. De Lux are the newest act signed to the Innovative Leisure label. And we <3 IL Records here at AS Blog. [soundcloud url="" width="100%" height="450" iframe="true" /] De Lux Free EP from ScionAV

Comin’ Up: Beach Ball, Dublab 14th Anniversary, Leisure Market, M83 and Phantogram, and more

I want to do all this stuff! I need a helicopter! Does Uber provide one?

Take your pick of a million things to do this weekend, all scheduled right on top of each other. Because life isn’t fair.

Here’s the scoop on: Leisure Market, Dublab 14th Anniversary, Beach Ball Fest, M83 and Phantogram at the Hollywood Bowl, Venice Music Crawl, and Big Black Delta at Saturdays off the 405. Gah.

Leisure Market

Hang on. Pepsi has a “culture lab”? OK.

Leisure Market is presented by Pepsi Culture Labs and awesome, fantastic record label Innovative Leisure, this Saturday in DTLA. This one-day pop-up market will showcase local, indie record labels, fashion, live performances, and food and drank. Performers include Egon, Nick Waterhouse, Crystal Antlers, Madlib, Nosaj Thing, and more.

Saturdays off the 405: Big Black Delta

Saturday, September 21 – 6pm-9pm
The Getty Center

Big Black Delta is way cool and far out. Too bad the Getty is far out, too. Literally. Even with a Saturday date for this recurring event, it always proves challenging to get up the 405 to the Getty. And then that parking situation? Whew! Let us all light a prayer candle for traffic and factors unknown, so we can see some BBD on Saturday.

Admission is free. Parking isn’t. More info here.

Beach Ball Festival

Saturday, September 21 – Sunday, September 22
@ Santa Monica Pier

The Santa Monica Pier Twilight Concerts are a wrap for the summer, but there’s still the Beach Ball this weekend. The two-day festival is sorta UCLA-Jazz-Reggae-Fest-format, with the acts split up for a soul-focused Saturday (with Aloe Blacc, Lee Fields & the Expressions, and more) and a reggae-infused Sunday (with Michael Rose
of Black Uhuru, Sly and Robbie, and more).

Tickets seem to be of varying prices right now, with lots of discount deals around. Saw them on LivingSocial, or you can also use the promo code “WAVE” for a discount at this link:

Venice Music Crawl

Saturday, September 21 – 12pm-10pm

M83 with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and Phantogram

Sunday, September 22
@ Hollywood Bowl

I haven’t even been to the Hollywood Bowl yet this summer. It’s time. Let’s synth out to M83 and Phantogram, and get into some Trader Joe’s wine and snacks up in the cheap seats.
