When you get an invite to the Fantasy Factory, you go.
On Friday night, November 30, Major League Soccer threw a party at Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory to celebrate the final game of the season the following day. (For soccer dummies like me, that would be between LA Galaxy and Houston Dynamo. And LA won. Go Galaxy.)
The event featured music by The Blackouts (Ako + Atiba), Franki Chan, and The Gaslamp Killer and cheap dranks (not complimentary like the invite said, but still cheap) from Budweiser and el Jimador Tequila.
I have been wanting to check this place out ever since Rob Dyrdek debuted this ultimate showoff business vs. pleasure playground a few years back on his MTV show. Bummer that the foam pit was blocked by a bar, I wanted to jump in. I wondered if it would look smaller than it does on the teevee, but it was true to what I imagined. The MLS Cup trophy was on display in Big Cat’s caged office, with a big growling tiger head in front and a dude guarding it.
Gaslamp Killer was hype as usual, rocking out with a red towel draped over his head like a ghost. He was rocking out so hard he had to get someone to duck tape his laptop down so he didn’t rock it right off the table. I saw Dyrdek floating around the party as well, smiling for photo ops. Big Cat was sighted, too. No Big, Chanel Westcoast or Drama though. And probably no MLS players either, because they should have been at home resting up for the big game.
