Classixx @ Hammer Museum – 7.25.13

Loved watching these two enjoy a beer and a mixed drink while mixin’ it up for a bunch of museum music night people. LA’s beloved remixers Classixx performed in the Hammer Museum courtyard on Thursday, July 25, as part of the free weekly music series “Music for Better Living,” presented by KCRW. What better to do at the Hammer Museum than get hammered?

Classixx, comprised of Michael David and Tyler Blake, have a Soundcloud bursting with dope remixes and also have an original album of their own entitled Hanging Gardens, which came out in May.

So far, the “Better Living Through Music” series has featured Shawn Lee, Ximena Sariñana, Fol Chen, and a slew of KCRW DJs. This Thursday, August 1, is the series finale with KCRW DJ Anne Litt and The Decoders. Reminder: it’s FREE, everybody.

Don’t forget to bring your KCRW membership card. You’ll get complimentary booze and access to a special members-only area. How fancy.

Give the Classixx remix of Phoenix’s “Lizstomania” a listen. I think it’s my fave. So sentimental.

Kind Regrets: New Works by Parra @ HVW8 Art + Design Gallery – 9.29.12

Dutch artist Parra opened his show of playful, bootylicious, bold art entitled “Kind Regrets” on Saturday night, September 29, at HVW8 Art + Design Gallery, off Melrose.

Got buns, hun.

Beardo blessed the gallery’s backyard with his ’80s permed Skrillex hairdo and Beardo weirdo verses. The photo below is of him jumping on a table during an aggressive song about fashion. FASHION!
